Using Wildscape in the Classroom

This page will provide some guidance on using Wildscape with your students. The aim of Wildscape is to help you and your students to plan and design some simple wildlife habitats and other environmental projects in your school ground. Wildscape will help you find out which animals you are likely to see in your local area or bioregion and attract to your 'Wildscape'. It provides lists of plants to use in your wildscape to attract specific animals. Students can then use the wildscape design feature to create a picture of what their planted habitat will look like in 12 months - 2 years time. A list of indigenous nurseries is included under our bookshop and you should be able to obtain all your plants from one of these specialist nurseries. Your wildscape plans can be printed or saved. To be able to save your plans or download our teaching activities, you will need to register your school and email address. Whenever you use Wildscape, you can enter you password to view saved plans. Wildscape is a great class activity. You can break students into small groups to work on wildscape designs or have students work individually. Our projects and tours will provide some guidance for you and your students. These and our teaching activities will be regularly updated providing you with new ideas and projects. · To begin with you and your class should undertake the wildscape tour to see how the site works and its special features. · Please fill out our survey to tell us what you think of Wildscape and to keep us informed of you progress. · Please contact us if you encounter any problems with the site or have any questions.
