The Australian highlands are carpeted with fascinating flowering plants, ferns and mosses. The stunted snowgums with their silvery bark cover vast areas.
When driving through this region, it’s obvious that most of the natural vegetaion has been cleared for farming. A number of large meandering rivers lined with massive River Red Gums wind their way through this bioregion.
The first white explorers and settlers were impressed by the fertile soils in this bioregion. The thick native grasses and the massive River Red Gums made the area look like a park and perfect for farming.
